International Handball comes back to Innsbruck!
By Christoph Kaufmann, Head of the Sports Committee of the City of Innsbruck
In the past Innsbruck has proven that it is a good place for exciting handball games and tournaments. In addition to the well-developed sporting infrastructure in our city, this was actually one of the main reasons for winning the EHF European Masters 2018. More than 60 international teams are expected at the event, which is affectionately known as the „Senior European Championship“. Former handball legends compete in different age groups and will ensure high-class performances and many handball gusto pieces. Innsbruck already qualified as a venue for
international handball events through the hosting of two European Junior Championships in 1998 & 2006, as well as the 2010 European Men’s event. The know-how of each of those events has been successfully bundled and has already being incorporated in the organization of the upcoming Masters. At this point I would like to sincerely thank all those involved – it takes more than a venue, a team and a ball to be able to celebrate another handball festival in Tyrol.
“Personally, I am looking forward to many exciting encounters and wish all participants and spectators unforgettable moments at the EHF Masters Championships 2018!”
